Plot Wines Merlot 2019

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaPlot Wines is a new friendly and funky wine collab based out of Kaleden. Their name refers to the partners' (Kevin Rossion and Adam Kereliuk) practice of sourcing grapes from different plots of land across the Okanagan Valley, making an ever changing roster of minimal intervention wines. From 3 cooler sites in Kaleden and Penticton, this merlot was native fermented and spent 14 months in French oak (20% new) before being bottled unfined and unfiltered. This is a welcome fresh and vibrant merlot, with ample wild plum, wild blackberry, fragrant violets flooding the palate. The bright acidity easily lifts the fruit, and framed by the long, lightly grippy tannins, sails this to a saline lashed finish. The only sense of the 14.7% alcohol is the warming flush on the finish. Really impressive restraint overall, and one to seek out.Tasted: 18 January 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
