Malivoire Wismer-Foxcroft Gamay 2020
Twenty Mile Bench, Niagara Peninsula, Ontario, CanadaMalivoire is one of Canada's top gamay specialists, with numerous expressions and releases each vintage. From Twenty Mile Bench's legendary Wismer-Foxcroft vineyard, this was fermented 50/50 whole berry and destemmed, in alternating layers in stainless. Post ferment, this aged 6 months in neutral French barrels. Very perfumed and elegant, with layers of floral raspberry, black cherry, black plum, white pepper coursing through the medium bodied palate. Tannins are long and lightly grippy, well-balanced to the lifted tart acidity. This finishes with a lingering white pepper note. An excellent wine solo or with food now, and in future.
