Bossanova Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo 2020

Abruzzo, ItalyBossanova is a biodynamic, natural project started between 2 friends in 2018. They're in Abruzzo, bordering Marche, next to the hill of Piceno, on the Adriatic coast. Their vines were planted in 1970. Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo is a relatively recent DOC in central Italy's Abruzzo, and is a category named for the light and graceful cherry-like colour of these wines (cerasuolo means cherry in Italian). Take this as a cross between a rosé and a very light red. From 40 year old vines, this montepulciano spent 25 minutes on skins, and was native fermented in concrete, where it remained for 8 months. Subtle strawberry blossoms, wild raspberry is seasoned with dried scrubby herbs, and infiltrated with ample Adriatic salinity. Acidity is bright, and tannins are concrete-rasped.
