Côtes du Rhône, Rhone Valley, FranceFamille Tardieu has become one of the best micro-negociants in the Rhone Valley. From the challenging 2019 vintage, this organic 70/30 Grenache / Syrah comes from very pebbled soils in the Gard, and was destemmed, native fermented and then aged 10 months in concrete. It was bottled without sulphur, or filtration. Plush and rich with cassis, black plum, blackberry, thorns on a plump, full palate, this is threaded with cracked peppercorn, wild mint, leather, perfumed violets, and framed by firm, sinewy tannins. Acidity is bright throughout, able to manage the muscular fruit and density.
