Les Pinots Blacks Irancy 2019
Burgundy, FranceLes Pinots Blacks is a collaboration between four friends: the Chablisiene restaurateur Fabien Espana; winemaker Thomas Pico from Domaine Pattes Loup in Chablis; Damien Delecheneau from Domaine de La Grange Tiphaine in Loire; and Bruno Verret from Domaine Verret in Irancy. The project was born from a common dream: to vinify Pinot Noir together, since neither Thomas Pico nor Damien Delecheneau use the grape. With one hectare of organically grown Pinot Noir supplied by Bruno Verret, they highlight the little-known terroir of Irancy, neighbouring Chablis. This pinot noir comes from a massale selection, with a mix of whole clusters and destemmed berries. Post native ferment, it aged in concrete and used barrel. The whole cluster is readily apparent right up, with a lifted forrest floor, herbal berry note that brightens the tart cherry, spring raspberry, fragrant, sapid plum that cores the bright palate. Acidity is crunchy, and tannins are long and whisper fine, guiding this to a shimmering limestone and saline laced finish. Irancy is such a special appellation, and this charmer will show you why. Take with a light chill.Tasted: 24 December 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $55.00 | 750ml | private wine shops |
