Fonseca Guimaraens Vintage Port 2018
Douro Valley, Northern Portugal, PortugalGuimaraens Vintages Ports are typically made in years when the wines are more approachable and can be enjoyed young. The 2018 combines the ripe fruit of Quinta do Panascal in the Távora Valley with the structure of the Pinhão Valley. True to form, this is soft and welcoming, with cushy blackberry, cassis jam, and cracked peppercorns, threaded with subtle kirsch on a plush palate, and lofted with easy schistous acidity. Tannins are dark cocoa dusted and ample, hugging this to the baking spiced finish.
