Fitapreta O Tinto Do Pote de Barro 2019

Alentejo, Central and Southern Portugal, PortugalThis is a field blend of 35 year old vines from Vinha da Nora in Borba, Alentejo. As the Pote de Barro name relates, it is fermented and aged in a clay pot (amphora). Due to the rules of the appellation, they are not allowed to call the wine talha, or VR Alentejano, hence it is declassified as Tinto, with a label of a humble rabbit sitting in the corner. 957 bottles produced. Fragrant with woodsy berries, wild plum, wild blueberries, wildflowers, this slender, bright wine flows along the palate, abuzz with stony acidity through the saline finish. Tannins are long and fine, and there is a slight grip from time in talha. Quite charming and singular, drinking beautifully now.Tasted: 16 December 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
