Cockburn's Late Bottled Vintage Port 2015

Douro Valley, Northern Portugal, PortugalCockburn’s was founded in 1815 by the Scottish brothers Robert and John Cockburn. Over the years it had fallen into neglectful hands, and it wasn't until the Symington family purchased the house in 2010 did the vineyards and wines receive much needed attention. The wine in LBV Ports are made from grapes harvested in a single year, from different vineyards, and are aged for up to six years in cask (vs 2 years for Vintage Port), making this ready to drink upon release, and ideal for entertaining or restaurant settings. This fruit comes from Quinta dos Canais, and Quinta do Vale Coelho, both located in the remote Douro Superior. Dusty cassis, stony plum, raisins rule a shorter, structural palate, framed by blocky / chalky tannins to a sticky, snappy, lightly peppery finish. Best taken with generous milk or dark chocolate desserts now.Tasted: 04 December 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
