Microbio Verdejo 2019

Rueda, Castilla-Leon, SpainIsmael Gozalo is renowned for his work with the Verdejo grape, native to his village of Nieva, in Castilla y León. This 5th generation winemaker is named by some as "El Mago de las Verdejos" (Wizard of the Verdejos). His MicroBio wines are from 5 hectares of organically and biodynamically farmed old vines, some of which, rooted in sandy soils, are ungrafted. These ancient vines are up to 200 years old, around 800-900m. This verdejo was whole cluster native fermented in stainless, where it holds on lees for 5 months. Wild lemon, anise, candied quince, almonds, tight white florals skip across a shimmering, slender palate, lingering with ample salinity. Subtle, yet expressive, this is verdejo like you've never experienced.Tasted: 18 November 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
