Lou Coucardié Costières de Nîmes 2012
Rhone Valley, FranceVarious old vine, organic parcels make up this 49% mourvèdre, 35% grenache, 16% syrah blend, all rooted in calcareous soils. It includes 30 percent whole cluster for a 30-day native ferment and maceration. It rested on year in neutral French barrels before bottling, without filtration. This is a mouth-filling, fleshy wine with brooding plum, wild blackberry, tayberry, crushed violets along a full palate. Tannins are worn to a velvet plushness at this state, but the acidity is held lofted, thanks to the soils and old vines. This 2012 is drinking well right now, though browning some at the finish, so drink up.Tasted: 08 November 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $45.00 | 750ml | private wine shops |
