Tuscany, ItalyYoung vines are the story of most Rossos, and it's true at Canalicchio di Sopra. You can expect a silky slick mix of black cherries, minerals, dried herbs, and forest floor so typical of this region and the Sangiovese grape. The fermentation is all stainless steel before the wine rests for one year in a mix of Slavonian oak barrel sizes, and some French oak barriques. It is all you could want in a Rosso, including the bright acidity and dry finish that is a Tuscan signature. Any mushroom-inspired pasta or chicken dish would work here.Tasted: 19 October 2023Tasted by: Prices:

Tuscany, ItalyProduced mostly from their youngest vineyards, this Rosso represents their calling card for Canalicchio di Sopra wines: a young, fruity, and versatile expression of their estate Sangiovese. This comes mainly from vineyards located in the Canalicchio Cru, with ample clay, magnesium, iron and Manganese soils. It was macerated and fermented in stainless over three weeks, before resting one year in Slavonian Oak Barrels (50 hl and 25 hl), and French oak barrels (750 liters). Lively and fresh, with an alluring ferrous minerality brightening wild cherry, black raspberry, dried herbs, subtle dark cocoa and candle wax. Acidity is lofted, and tannins are long, fine, and firm, directing this medium bodied red to a salt and pepper finish. Well knit, even in youth, this is drinking very smartly now.Tasted: 29 November 2021Tasted by: Prices:
