Tedeschi Marne 180 Amarone della Valpolicella 2015
Pedemonte Valpolicella, Verona, Veneto, ItalyAmarone has never been a wine for the casual red wine sipper. It is the type of wine that can overwhelm the senses in youth, and evolve into a highly complex affair over time. In 2015 Tedeschi was a giant wine that opens with an intense, earthy, garrigue-like nose. On the palate, a rich, warm black cherry rises from front to back to take over the flavours and sweeten the finish, at least as sweet as it gets for a big, dry Italian red. There is less bitterness and more drinkability, although there is no rush to drink this wine. There is plenty of time to allow it to become increasingly more intriguing and complex. Since 2015, this label has the name "Marne 180," referring to the vineyard's soil type and the 180 aspects of the site.Tasted: 19 October 2021Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $59.99 | 750ml | BCLS |
