Dr. Loosen Erdener Treppchen GG Alte Reben Dry 2018

Mosel, GermanyErdener Treppchen comes from 100-year-old, ungrafted vines grown on the red slate soil of the “little staircase” vineyard. It is a powerful riesling served up dry and complex. It has a GG or Grosses Gewächs designation, the German equivalent of “great growth”, and an estate’s best dry wine from a Grosse Lage (grand cru) vineyard. The wine spends a year on its full lees before bottling in 1000 litre fuder casks, building texture and complexity. 2018 was the earliest ever recorded harvest in the Mosel, although an early bud break and flowering led to the normal development of the grapes. In the end, this wine delivers at all levels, from its sleek restrained styling to its intense, fragrant, juicy nectarine. The finish goes on forever.Tasted: 14 October 2021Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
