Champagne Pierre Peters Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut NV
Champagne, FranceThis newer cuvée from Pierre Peters is also a Blanc de Blancs, like their flagship, but this time it is shown as an Extra Brut, with 2 g/L dosage. It comes off 4 Grand Cru parcels in the Côte des Blancs (Le Mesnil, Avize, Cramant, Oger), along with 20% of their Perpetual Reserve. The wine rested at least 36 months on lees prior to disgorgement. My bottle is based on the 2016 vintage, and was disgorged October 2020. Meringue is at the fore of this wine, followed by red apple, lemon, brioche, and light toast, finishing with a lingering toasted stoniness and ample chalkiness. This feels more expansive than their flagship, perhaps because of compensating for the Extra Brut dosage. Still, another strong wine from Pierre Peters.Tasted: 11 October 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $89.00 | 750ml | private wine stores |
