Valle del Colchagua, Valle del Rapel, Region del Valle Central, ChileGran Reserva is a 95/5 blend of carmenere and cabernet sauvignon, the latter adding to what is already a powerful red wine. The fruit comes from the hillsides o the Apalta Valley in Colchagua, displaying warm, silky, intense fruit with strong dark chocolate undercurrent and spicy tobacco, black cherry dusted in vanilla. A rich, soft-sipping wine that will have wide appeal and offers good value at this price. This single-vineyard wine, El Peñasco, is located in the hillsides in search of elegance, and it appears to have been a solid strategy.
