Calalta Davvero 2019
Veneto, ItalyCalalta is a small winery at the foot of Veneto's Grappa Mountain, with vineyards located between 150 and 200 meters. Son Nicola took over in 2017, and together with his girlfriend Giulia, transformed the already sustainable project to organic farming and producing natural wines. This riesling grows at 150m on a mix of clay and iron silicate soils. This natural orange was native fermented with 50 days on skins prior to resting in older tonneau until the following spring, when it was bottled without filtration. Pouring a hazy gold hue, this is etched with bitter lemon, orange pekoe tea, wild mint, and sour melon along a slender palate, textured with the skin tannins and finishing with a sharp grapefruit twist. A lifted, adventuresome orange for drinking now.Tasted: 26 September 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $41.50 | 750ml | private wine shops |
