Aphros Ouranos 2019
Vinho Verde, Northern Portugal, PortugalThis exciting, rarely seen single variety alvarelhão, a grape near extinction in Portugal, and helped back to life by Portugal's biodynamic mastermind, Vasco Croft. This was 25% whole bunch, native fermented in stainless with 1 month on skins before pressing into chestnut barrels for 6 months' rest. This was bottled unfined and unfiltered. Pouring a hazy light plum, this is tight and lifted with a swing of VA, pink peppercorn, early raspberry, perfumed florals, subtle balsamic on a light, tight palate. Tannins are very slight, and acidity is bright on this light bodied (11.5%) wine. Enjoy now with a chill. Ouranos is a Sky God, reflective of the light, ethereal qualities of this wine. 2000 bottles made.Tasted: 21 September 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:ON | $38.60 | 750ml | LCBO |
