Andi Weigand Pinot Noir 2018
Franken, GermanyYouthful Andi Weigand took over his father's Franken vineyards in 2015, and converted them to organics, and the wine programming into natural wine. They now work together as a united team, overseeing the vineyards on the Iphöfer Kronsberg, a slope that features Keuper soil. Andi uses an 80 year old basket press and very large wooden barrels, with no fining, filtration, or sulfur. This pinot noir comes off 30 year old vines, destemmed and native fermented with 12 weeks on skins before resting 2 years in large oak. Fresh and lifted, this is tight with crunchy plum, red currants, pomegranate, rinsed with earthy balsamic, and stencilled with fine, grippy tannins to a tart finish. No mistaking the natural intent in this fresh pinot.Tasted: 25 September 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $70.00 | 750ml | private wine shops |
