Vina Casas del Bosque Reserva Sauvignon Blanc 2020
Valle de Casablanca, Region de Aconcagua, ChileI loved this wine the last time I tasted it, 15 years ago, and I still like it. Then it was cork finished and would never be sold under screwcap. Of course, it is under screwcap now, but tragically the winery and its agents have failed to get us any of their wines to taste for more than a decade. I mention that only because if you wonder where brands go, it is usually a failure to market the wine to the right people. But that was then, and this is now. Look for an intense version of sauvignon that is picked at night and cold-soaked for five days before being pressed off and fermented. The attack is a mix of key lime, guava pineapple, and sea salt with just a hint of smoke and white pepper for complexity. In the mouth, bright flavours of ginger, citrus zest, and white pepper give way to a tight mineral backbone and fresh acidity. A solid effort in a warm year. Ridiculous value at $13 in Ontario.Tasted: 27 August 2021Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $17.95 | 750ml | specialty listing |
