McWatters Collection White Meritage 2020
Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaWhite Meritage has long been one of the best blends at Time Family of Wineries. In the case of the 2020 McWatters Collection, a blend of 55% sauvignon blanc and 45% sémillon, it upholds the tradition. The fruit is hand-sorted and then whole bunch pressed before a stainless ferment. There is no malolactic fermentation to keep the wine as fresh and bright as possible. The flavours are full of apricot, grapefruit, and green apple, typical for a young blend, before the sémillon kicks in with more weight and heft down the road. The oak is well managed, leaving this wine with a bright future. Most shellfish will work with this wine now, but richer food could come into play down the road.
