François Mikulski Bourgogne Aligoté 2019
Burgundy, FranceFrançois Mikulski’s father was Lieutenant Mieczyslaw Mikulski, an escapee from occupied Poland in 1939, fleeing to England and joining the Resistance troops of the Free Polish Forces. It was there he met his future wife, a Burgundian working on an English army base. They moved to Brussels where François was born and raised. François spent his formative summers in Burgundy, where he fell in love with wine culture (fortunately for us). These organically farmed 1929 and 1948 planted aligote vines are planted in prime Meursault, native fermented in tank and older wood. The 2019 is noticeably softer than the tight 2018, with lemon, light cream, verbena running the slender palate, lit with a shimmering lemon peel and bedded with stones. The finish lingers with a wash of salinity. More subtle, yet still striking, and satisfying.Tasted: 10 August 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $45.00 | 750ml | private wine shops |
