Domaine Jean Bourdy Douce Jeanne Chardonnay 2019

FranceThis natural, deeply orange hued, hazy orange wine is one of Jean Bourdy's daughter Laura's set of sulphur-free wines, and only a few bottles made their way to Canada. This whole bunch chardy, named for her niece Jeanne, had 15 days on skins before pressing into barrel for one years' rest, with no sulphites throughout. That barrel was tucked amongst a bunch of Savagnin, so a fine, thin layer of yeast developed. Bone dry, with riffing pear skin, apricot fuzz, baked apricot, broken stones and grapefruit pith on a grippy, fino-esque palate to a luring bergamot and saline finish. This medium+ bodied wine opens with time, so give it a bit to relax in the glass.Tasted: 15 August 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
