Peak Cellars Grüner Veltliner 2020

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis grüner comes off their Carr's Landing estate vineyard's granitic soils, and was fermented in a mix of French oak and stainless. Post-ferment the wine underwent weekly bâtonnage for 1-2 months prior to the final blend and rest in stainless. It's a lovely balance between the cool stony steel notes, and the textural, flinty, savoury notes from the oak, all in harmony even at this youthful age. Crisp Okanagan orchard apples and pears ring throughout, lined with a fine layer of herbal lees to a white pepper finish. Certainly a grape that seems well suited to site, and I hope more in the cooler parts of the Okanagan give it a try.Tasted: 16 July 2021Tasted by: Prices: BC 24.00 winery online/direct, select private retailers Producer: O'Rourke's Peak CellarsDistributors: Revelry Import Company
