Martin's Lane Simes Vineyard Pinot Noir 2016

East Kelowna Slopes, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaSimes is a cooler, steep, north-facing vineyard from East Kelowna, with granite-based soils underlying silt topsoils. This was planted to pinot noir clones 943, 667, 777, 114, 115, 828, and Swan, and was native fermented with 45% whole cluster before 17 months in extra tight grained French and Austrian oak. Quite elegant, with perfumed raspberry, ripe cherry, and dark plum set against a spicy / peppery background, this finishes with a gentle swell of warmth and cola. Tannins are long and still have a bit of tight firmness to shed. The various clones give a lot for the palate to play with here, with layers of complexity that are just starting to reveal. A very exciting vineyard and wine to watch.Tasted: 08 August 2021Tasted by: Prices:
