Lock and Worth Merlot Rosé 2020

Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis blush labelled Merlot Rosé is a new wine for Naramata garagiste Lock + Worth, sourced from Apricot Hill Vineyard, part of Matt Sherlock's property on the Naramata Bench, and planted in 2005. The grapes are currently undergoing organic conversion, and the fruit used to be sold to Laughing Stock Vineyard. After a whole cluster press, this was fermented in plastic tanks (due to the tiny volume) and then aged in neutral oak until it went to bottle, unfined and unfiltered. Dry and textural, with rainier cherry, wild raspberry, wild strawberry, apricot blossoms on a slender palate, decked with herbal lees, and finishing with a wash of salted sage. Quite a lovely, savoury rosé, and worth seeking out.Tasted: 12 July 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
