Kin Vineyards Carp Ridge Chardonnay 2018

Ontario, CanadaPrevious Vintage: 2019 Previous Scores: 90, 16.50, 3.75 Previous Tasting Notes: Kin Vineyards is a family estate winery on 47 acres in the heart of the Ottawa Valley, 10 of which are sustainably farmed vineyards, following organic and biodynamic principles. Located on the grey limestone of Carp Ridge, the vineyard is bisected by the Hazeldean Fault, leaving glacial till over limestone on the upper slope, and clay loam over limestone on the lower slope. This was native fermented and aged for 10 months in French oak (18% new) and 28% stainless, and is a mix of clones 95, 76 and 548. This underwent partial biweekly bâttonage, as well as partial MLF. The 2018 is showing beautiful integration at this point, with popcorn, broken stones, brown butter and waves of alluring, well-handled reduction. You can feel the profound soils here, carrying this wine through the lingering, limestone buzzing finish. Impressively handled, drinking very well now and with time ahead in cellar.Tasted: 19 July 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
