Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaFrom 34 year old estate vines, and 2 French clones, this classic, unstated, and confident BC Gris was native fermented in a mix of foudre, 500L French oak, and stainless, where it remained 6 months on lees, without bâtonnage. Orchard pear, lemon, meadow herbs is threaded with scrubby sage spicing, and seasoned with light toast. The finish lingers with a gentle stony hum. Grown up gris, drinking beautifully now.Tasted: 16 August 2021Tasted by: Prices:

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaIt is hard to beliveve the Blue Mountain PG is 34 years old, but it is, and vines are thriving in their Okanagan Falls sub-GI. The vineyard is planted to two French clones, and over the years, they seemed to have become one with the wine. The fermentation begins with indigenous yeast in a mix of vessels: foudre, stainless, older French barrels, and puncheons. Next, the wooded wines undergo regular bâttonage, while the stainless portion sits tight on its lees. Eventually, they are blended, and in 2020 the mix is knockout. Citrus drenched lime pith with first class creamy lees through a taut nervy and complex finish. Very food-friendly, this is all class. Back up the truck at this price; it doesn't get much better.Tasted: 23 July 2021Tasted by: Prices:

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaBlue Mountain has taken its pinot gris to another level with the outstanding 2020 vintage, benefiting from 34 year-old vines. There's still the juicy Okanagan orchard fruit of previous vintages, but there's so much more here. This vintage is bolstered by lifted florals, honey, smoky lees, and just the right amount of spicy oak from aging in a combination of stainless steel, foudre, and puncheons. There's also a notch more ripeness here than I recall from past vintages, giving some additional weight to make it all work. I found myself continually going back to my glass as I was tasting this, and it's only going to get better over the next 2-3 years as the components more seamlessly integrate. An absolute steal at $25.Tasted: 28 July 2021Tasted by: Prices:
