Aphros Yakkos Grande Reserva 2009

Vinho Verde, Northern Portugal, PortugalThis biodynamic, sparkling vinhão comes from Vinho Verde’s Lima subregion, and its granitic soils. It was foot-trodden and native fermented in granite lagares, and aged on lees before heading to bottle for secondary ferment, where it remained for 67 months before disgorgement with 3 g/L. Pouring a dark purple hue, this dry, brisk fizz streams dried violets, blackcurrant, black cherry, thorns along a tight, crunchy palate, with the tart, herbal fruit well balanced by the slight blip of RS. Lambrusco-esque, this is an impressive, authentic, food-friendly fizz.Tasted: 21 July 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
