Alasia Langhe Nebbiolo 2018

Langhe, Cuneo, Piedmont, ItalyProduced by Araldica, a co-op based in Castel Boglione, this is a modern, approachable style of nebbiolo that typifies the Langhe. It's ripe and fruit-driven, led by dark cherry with a medicinal edge, alongside walnut, dried florals, and sweet oak spices, with use of French barriques (40%) to complement the traditional large oak vats known as botti (60%). This is pressed at dryness, forgoing the extended maceration that is traditionally common to nebbiolo, which gives this an approachable structure, even at this youthful stage. It's thoughtfully made and a solid introduction to nebbiolo at a fantastic price.Tasted: 11 July 2021Tasted by: Geoffrey Moss MWPrices:
