Summerhill Pyramid Winery Organic Syrah 2019
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis organic syrah mixes in 5 percent cabernet sauvignon, mentioned because you likely won't notice it on the palate. It is all farmed in Osoyoos' Sekhon Family Vineyard. It was fermented in a 10,000L oak foudre before being racked into neutral oak barrels where it rested one year before bottling, essentially minimizing any wood influence. Expect some classic meaty, peppery notes mixed with smoky campfire penetrating the red fruit. The fruit is almost underripe, showing red cranberry and red cherry along with some unresolved tannins.
