Sperling Vineyards Organic Ruby Pét Nat NV
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThey make a pair of pét nats (short for the French pétillant naturel meaning natural sparkling) at Sperling. It is a wine made according to the ancestral method, namely a single, continuous fermentation. The Organic Ruby Pét Nat reminds me of fizzy grape pop from when I was a kid and is a favourite pizza wine at the winery. It's juicy, mostly fresh, which is more than I can say for many of those in the category. It is an 85/15 mix of marechal foch and pinot noir, the latter all but obliterated by the wild foch.
