Radford Dale Vinum Chenin Blanc 2018
Stellenbosch, Coastal Region, South AfricaFrom gnarly old bush vines on Stellenbosch's Helderberg Mountain and its steep granite slopes, this was cold settled in stainless prior to a native ferment in a mix of stainless (70%) and Burgundy barrels (partially new), with a portion undergoing skin contact. After aging in barrel on lees, this underwent another 16 months of bottle aging prior to release. This is a generous wine, reflective of the warm 2018, some bottle age, and the richer Vinum cuvée. Ripe white peach, pear, orange blossom, acacia flood the honeyed palate, finishing with alluring wood spices. Still feels somewhat in youth, though certainly befitting richer, more substantial food pairings now.Tasted: 03 June 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:ON | $18.95 | 750ml | LCBO |
