Hidden Bench Felseck Vineyard Chardonnay 2017

Beamsville Bench, Niagara Peninsula, Ontario, CanadaHidden Bench is one of Canada's preeminent chardonnay producers, and this Chardonnay comes off their organically farmed Felseck Vineyard, on their Beamsville Bench estate. 60% of the fruit comes from 1992 plantings, with the balance of younger Dijon clones. This was whole bunch pressed and native fermented in a mix of French oak (82%, 17% of which was new) and concrete egg, where it remained for 10 months prior to blending and resting in 228L barriques and stainless steel barrels for an additional 4 months. The wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered. Opening with a beauty lick of reduction that is well-woven throughout this complex wine, drawing lemon, green apple, stones, and scents of savoury brown butter through the lengthy, humming finish. Such a beauty wine, drinking gorgeous now, and with time ahead. Well done.Tasted: 01 June 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
