Dr. Burklin-Wolf Ruppertsberger Gaisböhl GG Riesling 2016

Pfalz, GermanyThe Dr. Bürkin-Wolf estate is the sole owner of this highly rated Grosse Gewachs (Grand Cru). The site, located at the foot of the Mittelhaardt mountains, has been farmed since the medieval era. These biodynamically farmed riesling vines are rooted in the vineyard's gravelled / clay terraces, with sandstone. This was native fermented in large old casks, followed by 15 months' rest there on lees. An intense, honeyed and stony nose follows through on the dry, textural and tense palate, with ample generosity from the tangerine, pear, mirabelle plum fruit. This savoury wine finishes with a wash of eraser, meadow grass, and wild, dried herbs, along with a drying, pithy wild citrus note. Somewhat restrained, yet classic Pfalz, drinking beautifully now and with years ahead.Tasted: 16 June 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
