Vinho Verde, Northern Portugal, PortugalThis alvarinho came from two different soil types: the typical granitic soils of VV, and 10% off a schistous band that stretches from the SE to the NW part of the appellation. This was fermented cool in stainless, where it remained in contact with lees until bottling. Crisp and bright, this very fresh 2020 rings with green plum, lemon, green apple, crunchy pear on a svelte palate, enlivened by a bit of that granitic hum on the finish.
