Seven Directions Fruitvale Ridge Vineyard Cabernet Franc Rosé 2020

West Kelowna, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaFruitvale Ridge Vineyard is an Osoyoos cabernet franc from sustainably farmed, 13-year-old vines grown over larger rock and shale, with gravel, loam and clay. Cooler weather closed the sugar and the acid gap, leaving a well-balanced affair hand-harvested on October 16 at a refreshing 21.6 Brix. The grapes were crushed, pressed with two hours of skin contact, and fermented at cool temperatures in stainless steel. Bâtonnage was employed once / week during the fermentation for added texture and mouthfeel. This dry rosé displays the partridge colour's bright eye, previewing a mix of wild strawberries, citrus, apricot, and Okanagan sagebrush. Very food-friendly. Seven Directions is working hard on its new home in Cawston, where they have just under four acres of vines in the ground, including garnacha tinta, grenache clone 52, and cabernet franc clone 214, and pinot noir clone 667. The property is farmed organically, and the winery is well underway. It should be ready for the 2021 harvest.Tasted: 05 May 2021Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
