Douro Valley, Northern Portugal, PortugalI hope that Prima surprises you and delights you. The Coles Note is it’s floral and aromatic on the nose, but the palate is dry, lean, and deliciously bitter in the finish. The longer note is its 50 year old Moscatel Galego vines from the Douro Valley. The grapes are the first picked at Vallado each harvest, and are fermented without skins, seeds. or stems, a process called bica aberta. It ferments over 30 days, followed by four months in tank before it's bottled. After that, it is a wine for wine nuts. I didn’t have any of the classic fried fish, so we served it with Hard Bites potato chips, and it was a winner.Tasted: 01 May 2021Tasted by: Prices:

Douro Valley, Northern Portugal, PortugalThis delicate muscatel galego, from 3 parcels, one of which is 55+ year old vines, is the first that Vallado picks each year. This is a dry muscatel, fermented without skins (bica aberta) in stainless, over one month, to preserve the perfume and vibrancy. Pretty fragrant lime blossom, gooseberry, lemon verbena, pear blossom runs the slender, streamlined palate through a finely ginger spiced finish. A lovely aperitif wine, or with fragrant Thai / Vietnamese curries.Tasted: 07 May 2021Tasted by: Prices:
