Play Saignée 2020

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaAs the name suggests, this rosé was made in the saignée, or bleeding method, where wine was drained off for this pink, while concentrating the remaining red wine. This year blends 50% Merlot, 22% Syrah, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 8% Malbec, from their estate vineyard and complemented from other Okanagan vineyards. This was partial (10%) native fermented before a stainless ferment and rest. Full with glycerol, this plump, off-dry rose pulls candied red apple, tangerine, cherry yogurt along the sluggish palate, seasoned with baking spices on the finish. Old-school in direction, this lacks vibrance, but not alcohol. Chill very well and utilize in punches or mixed drinks this summer.Tasted: 07 May 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
