Modest Wines Little Green Red Petit Verdot 2018

Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaModest Wines is a newish project from the folks at Mt. Boucherie, headed by newish GM Jesse Harnden, and was originally designed to be a tiny project to pair with the food from their on-site Honest Butcher restaurant. Jesse's creativity started flowing, however, and Modest Wines now sources fruit from a few different vineyards in the Okanagan, including their estate, to make more edgy, adventuresome wines. This petit verdot comes off a vineyard in Osoyoos, which you can feel in the smouldering, uber-ripe profile of this rich, dense red. Smoked meats, charred veg, tobacco, smoked sage, mint rule a palate where the ripe blackberry, black cherry play a supporting role. Tannins are big and ragged, thankfully now integrating into the dense fruit. Too much of too much, but if you're looking for that, crack this alongside chargrilled beef.Tasted: 24 May 2021Tasted by: Prices:
