Meyer Gewurztraminer 2020
Okanagan Falls, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis gew is a bit of an Okanagan Falls oddity, planted in 1994 with German cuttings onto their estate's mix of gravel / sandy loams. This was picked and processed in two lots: the first whole bunch pressed, and the later pick destemmed and left to soak on skins for 24 hours prior to pressing. They were then combined for a long, cool, native ferment in stainless and older French barrels, where it remained on lees for 6 months further, with no MLF. Fragrant lime blossoms, gooseberry, lillies, and ample soapiness flood the fuller (14%) palate, cut with a fine thread of citrus herbal bitterness through the finish. There's a little bump of RS here, helping to offset the bitter notes somewhat. Best taken with lightly spiced and fragrant curries or soups.Tasted: 07 May 2021Tasted by: Prices:BC | $18.12 | 750ml | winery direct |
