Licor Beirão NV
PortugalLicor Beirão could be considered Portugal's national liquor, used in numerous cocktails, but most oft simply served over ice, with possibly a citrus twist. It certainly doesn't need much else, with the numerous botanicals, herbs, and spices in the secret recipe poking through. Its origins go back to the 19th Century, where it was first conceived as a medicine to aid poor tummies. I note fragrant rosemary, cinnamon, anise, sarsaparilla, over a bed of sweet boozy oranges, trailing off with cool wintermint that lingers on the finish.
