Cullen Wines Diana Madeline 2015

Margaret River, Western Australia, AustraliaDiana Madeline is the flagship cabernet of Cullen, from own-rooted Houghton clones (8 in total) on the gravelly granite sands of Margaret River, organically and biodynamically farmed, and from vines 50+ years old. This vintage is 87% cabernet sauvignon, 11% merlot, and 1% each malbec and cabernet franc. It spent 17 months in French barriques (66% new). Fragrant baked blackberry, ripe black cherries, dark chocolate flood the cushioned palate, darted with violets and clay, and seasoned with baking spices. Tannins are ample and grippy / sticky across the concentrated palate, welcoming pouring this alongside grilled steak.
