Château Pichon-Longueville Baron Pauillac 2015

Pauillac, Haut-Médoc, Médoc, Bordeaux, FranceChateau Pichon Baron and Chateau Pichon Lalande started out life together. At their inception, they were originally part of the same Pauillac vineyard. The chateau and vineyard of Pichon Baron acquired its name like many properties of the day, through marriage, when Therese, daughter of the founder, received the estate as a dowry when she married Jacques de Pichon Longueville, the first President of the Bordeaux Parliament. This began the creation of what we now know of as Chateau Pichon Longueville Baron. This vintage blends 80% cabernet sauvignon with merlot, 80% of which saw time in new oak. There's an alluring spice box perfume of rose petal, baking spice, bay leaf, lavender scenting this structural, classic Pauillac. Black cherry, tobacco, fill the core, gripped with quite firm tannins, to the somewhat drying finish. Stately, if a bit reserved at this time.
