Borges Quinta de Simaens Vinho Verde 2019
Vinho Verde, Northern Portugal, PortugalIn 1884, brothers António and Francisco Borges founded a company dedicated to banking, the sale of lotto tickets and tobacco. In 1891, they shifted gears, creating Sociedade dos Vinhos Borges, a company dedicated to the production and marketing of wine. They didn't look back. In 1991 they added to their holdings with the 46 hectare purchase of Quinta de Simaens, in the southern part of Vinho Verde's Sousa subregion. This blends Pedernã, Avesso, Azal, Alvarinho, Loureiro, and Trajadura, from 15 year old vines, fermented cool in stainless where it spends 4 months aging on lees. Herb-infused, this melange carries pear, white peach, yellow apple, green melon, wild lemon, lime pith along a tight, shorter palate, with ample tart acidity brighting the slight, juicy frame. Ideal for spring / green veg dishes, or simple seafood, as intended.Tasted: 01 May 2021Tasted by: Prices:QC | $15.45 | 750ml | SAQ |
