Bodegas Beronia Rioja Tempranillo 2019

Rioja Alta, Rioja, SpainThis is a bold expression of Rioja, both in terms of the dark fruit and the forward dill and coconut notes of American oak. The oak isn't unexpected, but the fruit character pushes this closer to the modern stylings of Rioja. More black fruited than red, there's a softness and richness to this wine, forgoing the leanness and freshness you can sometimes find at this price point. It means there's a lot of wine here for the price and, unusually for this category, it's likely not at its peak yet, though you can easily enjoy it today with charcoal grilled burgers.Tasted: 07 May 2021Tasted by: Prices: BC 18.99 select private retailers ON 20.00 LCBO QC 21.50 SAQ MB 24.00 AB 23.00 Producer: Bodegas BeroniaDistributors: Andrew Peller Import Agency
