Stellenbosch, Coastal Region, South AfricaThe pinotage originates in the Western Cape, 40-80 kilometres from the ocean. Post ferment, 20 percent of the wine is matured in French oak barrels for 8 to 10 months, while the remainder ages in stainless steel with French oak stave inserts. The style is more pure fruit, less smoke and earth, including juicy black cherries, dark plums, milk chocolate in the back end. It will be a hit with consumers and less attractive to pinotage enthusiasts, which is the fun of this grape. Ready to drink. The classic SA match is pulled pork, but hamburgers are just as enticing.
