Modest Wines The Eye of the Partridge Pinot Noir Rosé 2020
Similkameen Valley, British Columbia, CanadaModest Wines is a new, stand alone line from the folks at Mt Boucherie, spearheaded by new GM Jesse Harnden (ex of Hatch Wines), and originally intended to be consumed in their on-site Modest Butcher Restaurant. You can see and feel Jesse's thumbprint all over these eye catching, palate-stretching, contract-vineyard wines, especially for those used to the classic, staid, Mt. Boucherie style. Oeil-de-Perdrix is French for 'eye of the partridge', a colour supposedly similar to the eyes of that game bird, and oft used to categorize wine hues. This pinot noir rosé is sourced from Similkameen's Lazy River Vineyard, and was soaked on skins for 8 hours It's thankfully kept dry, savoury and stony, like its home. Wild raspberry, cherry blossoms, tangerine flood the lighter palate, gently plumped with a slick of lees and bedded with ample stoniness. Certainly food ready and worthy, but also lovely to enjoy on its own.Tasted: 27 May 2021Tasted by: Prices:BC | $24.99 | 750ml | winery online/direct |
