Lock and Worth Cabernet Franc Rosé Grey Label 2020
Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaTwo cabernet franc rosés were released from L+W's 2020 vintage: this off-dry, grey label rosé from Oliver; and the classically dry, white label one, from Naramata. Pouring a deeper peach hue, this cab franc was planted in 1997 and 2008 in Oliver, and this is the second vintage. After destemming, this had 3 hours of skin contact during the press cycle. It was fermented in stainless before aging in old barrels. In January 2021 the ferment stopped, and instead of inoculating to re-boot, they decided to filter and bottle the wine as it wanted to be. Noticeably off-dry, with perfumed rosehips, candied cherries, ripe wild summer strawberries running the slight 11.4% palate to a herb-dusted, bergamot rinsed finish.
