Western Cape, South AfricaA blend of cabernet from several Western Cape sub-regions, including Stellenbosch, Swartland, and Paarl, comes with an earthy, vegetal tone from front to back. The flavours are fairly intense, with bright acidity that seems to accentuate the cedar and spice. On the palate, coffee and earth dominate the black cherry base. With fruit from Stellenbosch, Swartland, Darling, Voor-Paardeberg, Botrivier, Wellington, and Paarl, this is drenched in oak (a combo of 95% French / 5% American, and 35% new), imparting toast, roast, smoked meats onto the ripe cherry fruit. Tannins are sanded soft, and the finish is flushed with cedar and spice. Western Cape, South AfricaThis wine takes us on a tour of the Western Cape, with fruit sourced from Stellenbosch, Swartland, Darling, Voor-Paardeberg, Botrivier, Wellington, and Paarl. It's oak-forward, with vanillin, coffee, and toast, after aging in a 95/5 combination of French and American oak (35% new). The rich, dark fruit is slightly overshadowed, but comes through on the sweet attack and medium-full bodied frame.
