Argiano Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2015

Montalcino, Siena, Tuscany, ItalyThe Riserva comes off a vineyard block that sits from 280 to 310 meters above sea level. The vines, organically farmed, have an age span of 25 to 60 years old, rooted in marl, clay, and magical limestone. A perfect growing season saw the fruit come in late September. It is a best berry selection at that cellar before a three week maceration process in stainless steel vats and 36 months of ageing in 600-litre Slavonian oak barrels before two more years in bottle. The nose has a beautiful floral lift that mixes rose petals and licorice with an earthy mushroom note. The palate is taut and lined with fresh fruit and bright acidity. Flavours range from dried cherries and leather and orange peel to stony, mineral notes and refined, dense, sweet tannins. It is a keeper you can drink now thanks to the rush of fruit, but it is a wine that will cellar for decades. It is your choice, and you can’t go wrong.Tasted: 16 April 2021Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
